Groundwork Construction is a residential and commercial excavating company based in Lititz, Pennsylvania. Although at times we do travel farther, most of our work is in southeastern PA including Lancaster, Lebanon, Berks and Chester Counties. As a small company we strive to fill in the gaps that are sometimes overlooked by larger companies. Our dedication to quality workmanship, cost effective planning and excellent customer service has resulted in many successful projects over the past years.

Groundwork Construction was started in 1988 by Steve and Barbara Martin under the name Martin's Skidloader Service. As the name suggests a Gehl skidloader, a backhoe attachment, and a F350 dump truck performed all the earth moving duties. As time went on and the jobs became more challenging the need to move to larger equipment became obvious. First a track loader was added, next a backhoe, a tri axle dump truck and eventually an excavator. At some point in that process it became very obvious that the company name no longer represented us very well and after much deliberation the name Groundwork Construction was chosen. We feel that this name characterizes our approach to any project, not only in the earth moving activities but in the planning stages as well.
